Think you have what it takes to work at Microsoft...supposedly, this is
one of Microsoft's interview questions.....you have only 5 minutes to
answer it.

Good luck...

Allegedly this is one of the question for the potential Microsoft
employee. Reportedly, one guy wrote a C++ program to solve it in 37
minutes, another guy solved it in 3 minutes by himself and a group of 50
at Motorola couldn't even come close to the answer.

See how long it takes you.

The Problem:

U2 has a concert that starts in 17 minutes and they must all cross a
bridge to get there. All four men begin on the same side of the bridge.
You must help them cross to the other side. It is night and there is ONLY
one flashlight. A maximum of two people can cross at one time. Any party
who crosses (either 1 or 2 people) must have the flashlight with
them.

The flashlight must be walked back and forth, it cannot me
throw, rolled, transported, teleported  etc etc ... across the bridge. Each
band member walks at a different speed and a PAIR of men walking across
the bridge will travel at the speed of the slowest member of it's party.

The Paces:
Bono:    1 minutes to cross.
The Edge:         2 minutes to cross.
Adam:    5 minutes to cross
Larry:      10 minutes to cross.

Example.
If Bono and Larry walk across first, 10 minutes have elapsed when they get
to the other side of the bridge. If Larry then returns with the
flashlight, 20 minutes has elapsed and you've failed your mission.

Note: There is NO trick behind this. It is a simple movement of resources
in the appropriate order.

Microsoft expects you to solve this in 5 minutes. Good luck.

Again, there is NO trick in this!!!

Email me if you want the answer.
